The new generation C-Class was recently seen in a less disguised form. This only shows that the Mercedes-Benz is almost ready to unveil the vehicle. The latest shots give us the best look yet at the compact executive.
The cameras took shots of the prototype during testing, as the vehicle has lost the side disguise panels, and there was only a thin strip camouflage wrapping, which covered areas of rear-end.
It’s very clear that the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4 rival has taken an evolutionary external approach. But, this is very typical with the brand’s more traditional models. But, we know for certain that interior would be renewed with abroad approach, and the company would like it to be much better than the previous version, adding MBUX infotainment system and thorough redesign.
Last year we also saw the next C-Class estate, on a YouTube community post. This is why the firm decided to provide the fifth-generation model with many features of the new S-Class. The vehicle, developed under the codename W206, is set to rival the Audi A4 and BMW 3 Series when it will arrive in the showrooms after a few months.
If you take a closer look at the photos of the prototypes, you can easily tell that there’s an evolution in the design over the current model. Its proportion and dimension are pretty much similar to the previous model, but its exterior comes with a new-look front end with more angular headlights.
The platform used for the model is the Modular Rear Architecture platform, which provided several advantages over the previous versions of the aluminum and steel structure. There’s an advanced electrical architecture, which can support a 48V system, which will provide the model with a new range of plug-in hybrid drivetrains. The hybridized 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit that can develop more than 485bhp will replace the V8 engine.
The vehicle will offer adaptive damping across the range as standard in many countries including the UK. The option of rear air springs will be provided on selected models.
