Changes include a large liftback-style tailgate

Audi has launched the new model that will rival the vehicles like BMW X4 M40d and Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé. The SQ5 Sportback will lead the new line-up from the firm, so it’s a very crucial vehicle for them. Other style changes include a large liftback-style tailgate and more heavily sloping roof. These are the main elements that gives the vehicle more rakish look than the SQ5.

There are other distinguishing features as well. There are seven driving modes including dynamic, which when selected will resulting in the lights altering their graphics in appearance.

In the US and other countries, the SQ5 Sportback is provided with turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine, but in the UK, it comes with turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 diesel. The engines works with 48V electric system, which supports an electrically powered compressor. In the electric system, a mild-hybrid system is also included. An alternator starter motor is used to recover up to 12kW of electric energy, when brakes are applied, the energy is stored in a battery mounted under the boot floor. Several systems in the car are powered through this, which reduces load for the engine. It results in lower emissions and savings in consumption. A coasting function is also enabled, which means that if the car is running efficiency mode, the engine can shut down when it can.

The engine can develop an output of 325bhp and 506lb ft. If you compare it with other vehicles like the X4 M40d, which uses the turbocharged 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder engine that develops 342bhp and 496lb ft, you will see that the numbers are not much different. There is a standard eight-speed torque-converter gearbox that sends the power to the wheels.

Whether you should buy the vehicle or not, depends on what you are looking for. If you want your high-riding SUV to offer style and performance, and the vehicle’s price is within your budget, you should consider it. Where it provides some great features, it lacks in some areas as well, but that’s normal.
