The new Qashqai is a complete UK model, with its design, engineering, and production all carried out in the country. To give it more purposeful and athletic styling cues, it has been fully redesigned.
The vice president of Nissan Design Europe, Matt Weaver, talked about reinventing such a successful car. He says the car being popular offered a great advantage to them, as they had the feedback of about three million customers from Europe. We had certain anchor points to be included in the design and we also knew what design points customers have liked from the different generations of the vehicle.
Talking about their strategy to attract new customers as well as retaining their loyal customers, he said that’s what Nissan does comfortably. The customers will be attracted to it because it has a strong foundation and provides great practicality and usability, and the car is so advanced that will people will be able to easily identify the great use of technology. He was also asked how difficult it would be for the current version to stand apart in this segment compared to the original version which had it easy. He said the styling cues will make sure it stands ahead in the competition.
